ACS Ireland
ACS Ireland is the voice of the Irish covered bond industry.
Irish covered bonds, known as Asset Covered Securities or ACS, are issued under a legal framework first put in place in 2001 and updated in 2007. The original ACS legislation was widely regarded as 'best of breed' throughout Europe. The 2007 legislation reinforces the commitment of the financial services sector and government agencies to having a strong legislative framework in place.
The first ACS issued was a public sector ACS issued by DEPFA ACS Bank in 2002. Since then five other banks have issued ACS, including the first mortgage ACS issued in 2004 by Bank of Ireland Mortgage Bank, along with issues from WestLB Covered Bond Bank (public sector ACS), AIB Mortgage Bank, EBS Mortgage Finance (both mortgage ACS), and Anglo Irish Mortgage Bank (commercial mortgage ACS).
ACS Ireland brings together those institutions involved in the ACS market. The secretariat for ACS Ireland is provided by the Irish Banking Federation.
